About
short bio
The name I love to be called is simply Anne (pronouns she/her). I am a dance artist: choreographer, dancer, performer, teacher and dance scholar.
After studying stage dance at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne and at the Hooger Instituut Voor Dans of the Artesis Hogeschool/Koniklijk Conservatorium in Antwerp, I additionally trained as a Pilates instructor with Polestar. Alongside my work as a dance artist, I also teach dance and Pilates. Currently, I am deepening my dance pedagogical skills through the online course Rambert Grades Syllabus Training.
In autumn 2023, I completed my Master's degree in Dance Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, where I also worked as a mentor for the programme for two years.

As a dancer and performer, I have been working in the fields of contemporary dance, dance theatre, performance, opera and contemporary music theatre for more than 14 years.
Since 2017, I have worked in particular with the director Simon Möllendorf and his company DORFPRODUCT at studioNAXOS in Frankfurt a.M. and with the opera director Claus Guth, mostly at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin.
Among others, I have also worked with the following choreographers: Willi Dorner (2011), Liz Erber (2011-2012), Sarah Vella (2013-2015), Alexandra Pirici (2015), Matan Zamir (2016), Dorothea Eitel/company urbanReflects (2016), Carina Otte (2016-2017), Maria Rutanen (2018) and Verena Steffen/Company STEVE (2023-2024).
A detailed career record can be found in my CV (Click to download).

The last two years of my artistic work in Berlin were especially marked by the conception and choreography of a performative walk for the walk-in opera RYTHMS OF LIVING; by the collaboration with FREYAS.connective, of which I am a founding member; by projects as a dancer for Company STEVE and as a dancer and responsible for restaging in various productions at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
artistic statement
My choreographic work is mostly collaborative and includes artistic research, choreographic works and video projects that are centered around the exploration of psychosomatic states: In what ways can psychological phenomena express themselves physically? What expression, form and qualities of movement can they take on? To what extent can these observations be the starting point for artistic processes, which in turn address socially relevant issues? These questions shape my artistic handwriting, which is characterised by a subtle interplay of abstraction, clarity and complexity.

Another focus of my work are site-specific projects in urban and rural spaces. Associations to elements of architecture, nature as well as imagined and fantastical worlds are brought to life and sometimes humanised through the language of movement.
The combination of dance and music - or rather the musicality of movement - forms another important element of my artistic work.

What drives me is the search for what lies hidden - for what can be glimpsed behind the obvious. What is it that really moves us?
It is important to me to ask uncomfortable questions and open up new perspectives which create access to our inner experiences and feelings and, in doing so, focus on personal and collective challenges.
